Italy is usually depicted as a woman with a body rather lush, with typical Mediterranean attributes such as complexion and dark hair colored.
often holding a bunch of wheat ears (a symbol of fertility and return to the agricultural economy) or a sword or scales, symbols of justice during the fascist period, it was holding a fasces. Towered above the head of Italy is often portrayed in a star hovering five points, the so-called Stellone of Italy, which since the days of the Risorgimento is a symbol of the nation, being one of the symbols of the royal coat of arms of the House of Savoy, and still the dominant element of the emblem of the Republic.
